How to play rummikub?

Rummikub is another variety of Rummy Games which can be played with two, three and four players. It requires both luck and skill to win the game of Rummikub. Rummikub basically consists of 106 plastic tiles. Its like having two decks of 52 cards each along with jokers or a total of 104 cards or tiles. Remember Rummikub can also be played with normal cards. All the cards are placed facing down on the table and players are asked to pick up one card each to determine who plays first. Now the player with the highest number has to begin the game. After this each player can pick up 14 cards or tiles to play the game.

Initial meld is a player’s first move in the game. In the initial meld a player has to play a set with a value of atleast 30 points. Points are determined from the face value of the cards. If initially a player is not able to form a meld then, he can pick up a card from the pool and form a meld before playing. The game proceeds to the next player in this fashion. If a player chooses not to play any card then he has to pick up a card from the pool randomly.

The main objective of the Rummikub game is to be the first player to get rid of all the cards by melding them in certain combinations. The combinations which are allowed are called groups and runs. Now a group consists of three or four cards of the same number but different colors. Runs consist of three or more consecutive numbers from the same suite. Jokers play an important role wherein they can substitute any card of any colour to make a valid combination. So by rearranging the cards a player can meld his cards when his turn comes in every play. Now the first player who can manage to play all his cards wins the game. The other players have to add up all their cards in their hand by their face values. In this way a game of Rummikub is played.
